HOUSE PROGRAMS
In our 15+ combined years of living in
community, we have experienced, discovered and developed the following programs
to provide opportunities
for creating connection with each
other.
Living in the Brisbane Community House is an agreement
to participate in these programs.
House Meeting:
Attending a twice monthly meeting with all community residents present
Community Night:
A twice monthly evening where we all come together and play communication games or
host some other fun time.
Meals:
Preparing and eating meals together Monday thru Thursday
Effect Shift:
Being responsible for cleaning and loving the common area one day a week.
House Job:
Being responsible for maintaining a common area of the house.

Giving a minimum time commitment of one hour a week to the community garden.
Groovy:

a period of four hours.
Evaluacy:
Agreeing to a six month period of getting to know each other and at
the end of the three months, re-evaluating your residency with the Community
with the option of staying or moving out.
Ongoing practices of meditation, self examination and positive regard:
Spending time with and in the community sharing your practices and edges. Being willing and open to resolve anything within you and with others and having the belief in the magic of high regard for oneself and ones environment and communities.
Peace Program*:
~Understand, Know and maintain a sense of peace within yourself
~Use your best words when speaking.
Words can be used to start a war or words can be used to create peace.
~Deeply LISTEN. Listen from the peace within yourself. Notice the impact of your words as the speaker
and the listener. Don't be waiting to respond in a way that directs the conversation back to
yourself and what you know or don't know.
ASK
INTERESTED QUESTIONS.... be sincerely interested in what someone has to share. Be curious about each other. Care.
No
Gossip/ excessive negativity. When we talk about each other or life in a negative way, it creates a baseline
of mistrust. This undermines trust and care for ourselves and each other. Conversely, when we talk too
much about how great someone/everything is all the time, it can create distrust, envy or jealousy,
which creates difficulty as well. Please be aware and responsible.
Intend that
your
presence is a contribution and enjoyable for the people that live with you.
Practice Gratitude:
Be aware of the things in your life that are working and know that we all
experience this.
Practice Compassion:
Be aware and spacious of the things in your life that aren't working and know that we all
experience this.
Practice
Leadership:Take responsibility for your environment by taking action to have it be the way you want it to be..
(i.e. shift the conversation, ask someone to keep their agreements, encourage someone, and smile)
Unity/ Teamwork:
find solutions that benefit all
